Here's the lowdown from yesterday that I was too tired to give last night:
We got off the plane around 4:30pm after an 11 hour flight. We went through customs, got our luggage, and then we had to get some Yen because we had to take a train from the airport to our hostel in Tokyo. Daniel exchanged his American currency at the airport, but I didn't have much so I decided to go to an ATM. Good luck with that. After spending 5 minutes staring at the screen, I decided to wait because I didn't know what the hell I was doing, and Daniel bought my train ticket for about 10 bucks, or 10,000 Yen.
The train was cool, pretty similar to BART but with big windows. We started out in the back county, which was really green and lush. It was raining and humid, really humid. We met some Canadian guys on the train, and also two older Indian guys with doctorates who happened to be staying in our same hostel. The Indian guys stuck with us for the rest of the time.
After an hour and one transfer, we finally make it to our stop. The directions we had said it was about a 15 minute walk from the station to the hostel. That sounds simple enough, but Tokyo doesn't put addresses on their buildings! It's insane, I don't know how they do it.
So Daniel, the two Indian guys and I started asking people if they knew where "Tokyo Hostel" was (Could they get a more distinct name please?), and those that spoke English were more than willing to help. The first couple we stopped even called the place for exact directions. After some pointing and gesturing, we started walking down the street. To make a long story short, we eventually found the place 40 minutes later, after stopping several more people for directions, most of whom were no help.
By this time Daniel, and I, not to mention the two other guys, were sweating our asses off lugging our stuff around the city. We walked into the hostel, checked in, and headed up to the third floor where our room was. It's so damn humid at this point that we throw our shirts off and cuss for about 10 minutes before we get it together. We blasted the a/c and took off walking.
And now I'm sick of writing, so I'll tell you the rest later with pictures.

I told you to have cash on you!!!! hahahahaha
Sounds awesome!! Traveling is so fun. Getting lost, lugging all your shit everywhere, not being able to communicate, being totally out of your element, and wingin' it! I LOVE IT!!! I'm so excited for you!!! I like your blog and I'll definitely be checking it while you're away. I used ATMs a lot of the time in Japan and I know many of them have english as well. So good luck finding them!!
